asked questions
What is naturopathy?
Naturopathy is a field of complementary medicine that encompasses both herbal and nutritional medicine. Through an evidence-based, in-depth understanding of human bioscience, naturopathic medicine is utilised to provide relief of symptoms and help prevent disease. This is achieved by determining the root causes of disease and by treating the body and person as a whole.
What type of testing do you do?
In order to treat the body as a whole, specific testing may be required to determine the root cause of your health complaints. We commonly refer for standard blood testing of specific nutrients as well as biomarkers of liver function, thyroid function, metabolic function, and hormonal function. Depending on symptoms, we also commonly utilise functional testing such as genetic testing, hair tissue mineral analysis, organic acid testing, and microbiome mapping.
How do you order testing if I have an online consultation?
We can provide referrals for you to get testing locally. All we require is a copy of your test results and we will go through these with you in a consultation.
Where do I send test results?
Please email a copy of your medical results to hello@hormonehealthstudio.com at least 48 hours prior to your consultation.
I live outside Newcastle – can I book an online consultation?
Absolutely. Hormone Health Studio offers online naturopathic consultations via zoom. All you need is your mobile or computer and a decent internet connection.
Are private health fund rebates available?
As of April 2019, consultation fees are no longer claimable through private health funds for Naturopathy consultations. While the government is reviewing this, please speak to your individual health fund for an update.
What happens if I miss an appointment?
Missed appointments and late cancellations prevent our team from helping others in need. Please provide 48 hours notice (during business hours) if you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment.
I.e. an appointment scheduled for 9am Monday will need to be cancelled no later than 9am Thursday morning. Missed consultations or late cancellations without 48 hours notice will incur the full consultation fee (+ GST).
Do you have a cancellation waitlist?
If you require an urgent appointment, please email hello@hormonehealthstudio.com to arrange a time with one of our naturopaths.
What qualifications do your practitioners hold?
Each of our naturopaths hold a Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy), are members of either Australian Traditional Members Society (ATMS) or Naturopaths & Herbalists Association of Australia (NHAA), and also undergo continual professional development.
Does Hormone Health Studio offer other modalities?
We are always looking to grow our team and services. If you are a health professional specialising in women’s health and fertility, we would love to hear from you. Please email hello@hormonehealthstudio.com.
