Almonds are a great source of protein, fat, fibre, magnesium and calcium.
Almonds have been suggested to reduce heart disease risk by lowering total and LDL cholesterol, and exerting anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. Almonds also contain phytonutrients that support the growth of beneficial gut microbes. And! Remember! We need a healthy gut for healthy hormones.
Despite nuts being calorie-dense, research does not support a link with nut intake and weight gain. In fact, they have been associated with healthy weight and a lower risk of obesity (the protein, fat and fibre content help to improve feelings of satisfaction and fullness).
So try this as your next snack or salad topper.
Ingredients
- 1 cup almonds
- 1 tbsp @spiralfoods tamari
- 1 tsp sesame seeds
Method
Bake for 20 minutes or until tamari is absorbed in an oven at 180 degrees celsius.
